Fireball

Anyone see a fireball just below Orion about 21:59? I 'heard' it fizz! View was from Celbridge, Kildare. Will post more later. Off out imaging saturn again...

Just back inside after experimenting with autoguiding whilst photographing Orion. Didn't see any fireballs. Maybe below Orion for you is above Orion for me down here.

Observing from Killearny, we saw a bright meteor low in the East, just over the back of Leo, heading th the east, at about that time. It left a trail for a second or two and sparkled like a firework.

Now, if it was the same one, you should be able to work out its position and altitude. Where did I leave that slide rule :

Ya I saw it in the east/north east at about 10 pm.I was looking at saturn and I saw something out of the corner of my eye and I looked around and there was a bright fireball :shock:

Anybody get a picture of it :

try geting a star chart of that area of sky and plotting it on the chart while its fresh in your minds. In a way, that could help determine if it was he same fireball, and help work out a general trajectory relative to each of your co-ordinates on Earth.

At that time of night orion was south/south west.

The meteorite was west/north west heading northwards and was low in the sky.
