blue flash over the hole sky i would say lightning, but with a distance to great to hear the boom. Thats the only blue flashing ive seen in the sky
As I just say. I've checked if there was any storm near using meteo-Live. There wasn't any storm near Iberic Peninsulae. Not even North Africa nor at the sea.

I haven't observed this in a few years but I can tell you that when I saw it there was no lightning anywhere near by. It was on nights when there wasn't a cloud in the whole country. I've been looking for an explanation for these flashes for years and have never been able to find one.

I really must think of something interesting to use as a tag line!

Here's another "me too".
I saw them only once. About five years ago. A completely clear sky. I have nice dark skies and I was having a ball star gazing, taking it all in. Suddenly, the sky lit up. It started in one patch, right overhead and then moved to another and another until it stopped. It traced a path across the night sky, a bit like the pavement under Michael Jackson in his video for Billie Jean. The effect was of a large area being lit in sequence with no single point of origin. It was very unusual and very fast but definitely happened.

Having slagged Dave Lillis about this phenomenon, I was both surprised and embarassed to experience same on a nignts observing with Michael O'Connell.
I looked at many possibilities and concluded that it was "Heat Lightning"
