New scope on the way at last. was created by StephenK
Finally after a lot of trawling on here and cloudynights, and seeking opinions on telescopes, I have ordered my new scope. A 12" Revelation Dob from Green Witch Astronomy Centre in UK. I originally considered some 10" Eq newts (another post on here), and on the advice of you guys, namely Dave Grennan ( Thanks a million), I think it would be better if I hold out and buy a good quality motorised GEM sometime in the future, and put the 12" on that to pursue my astrophotography goal, so in the meantime I can twirl around the skies with a big scope and observe for a while, as my financial situation recovers As soon as I get it Im sure it will cloud up for a month.. :x .
Anyhow the scope comes with a 2" crayford, a 2" - 1.25" ep adaptor, a cooling fan and a 32mm ep. Afaik its a Hardin optical/gso rebrand, so Im expecting it to be of good enough quality.
Now to spend a year researching mounts.. Losmandy G11 anyone

Hi, sorry for the delay, I was away racing for the weekend....
It cost me 449gbp, + 100gbp for delivery. If you dont have a vat number this is how much it is. I have a vat number, so it cost me 370gbpm + 100 delivery, which worked out at around 700 euro.

Also, is there any problem explaining the telescope purchase as 'business-related' - Or do we keep quiet about that bit?
Everyone in Ireland buys Meade, and they all buy them from Lidl.

How does the piece with the VAT number work? - Do you supply the VAT number to them, and they sell you the goods ex. VAT, or do you pay the price+VAT and then claim the VAT back here in Ireland at the end of the month?Hi, sorry for the delay, I was away racing for the weekend....

I have a vat registered company here. The price of 449gbp is including 17.5% UK vat. So I fax them my company details on headed paper, and they deduct the vat from the price. Some companies in UK wont do it, but Greenwitch do. And they happened to have the cheapest price for that scope in the UK!! Happy days.
As for business related.. Dad looks after that.
