I was just looking at the platform that is connected to the Meade base. Have you tried this out for observing yet? I would have suspected that there is going to be slight instability, I may be wrong, but not physically been there, I would have thought that the way the platform greatly extends above the lower plate would have less dampening for the mount.
Anyway, its a great job, congratualations.

I undersrand what you're saying. However, I've used it a couple of times and it works fine. Each bolt has a washer and bolt each side of it that's well tightened. Therefore, I could kick the pillar if I wanted and it only causes a slight vibration in the image. Overall, I find that it works fine.
