Only question is, when will it actually be finished...the more I do, the more ideas I get and see ways of improving it!

Do yoy think you can reach the bedrock??
its not essential but it is desirable, I had to go 6 feet down, it was great fun,
the guy next door joked that if one of us mysteriously dissapeared, he'd know where to look

Next I got some plastic and lined the inside of the excavation. This was done to ensure the earth didn't mix with the concrete during the mixing and that the water in the concrete wasn't absorbed into the sides.
I also got 4no. 10mm diameter 3foot long threaded bars. I drove these into the ground with a sledgehammer so that the top of the pins would be below to the top of the concrete. The idea here was to form a better connection between my pad foundation and the ground below. Hopefully, this will stiffen the whole thing and make it less prone to movement.

I just finished pouring the foundation. Basically, it consists of 1/4 of a tonne block of concrete, which should be enough. Mixing the stuff was a real pain. I should have got a mixer by right.
The foundation is intentionally kept below the level of the floor. I'll put a new floor over the existing one in such a way that it bridges the foundation. That way, I won't ever walk or make contact with the foundation. This should help reduce movement/vibration.
