Ultraportable mount & OTA was created by TrevorDurity
Laughed my socks off when I saw this on the Roboscope forum.
Just had to share it
It's one way to get setup at a dark site quickly. Just watch out for overhanging trees and bridges!

Nice picture Trevor! I think one of the guys on the cloudynights.com site is using it as his avatar
Have a look at some pics I took at the RTMC Astro Expo in California last May and there's a very nice trailer-mounted scope that was in one of the telescope fields. I didn't get to look through it but was set up near by on the two nights we were there. Someone had a Meade mounted in the back of a pick-up and it could be electronically raised up from a storage box welded to the floor of the truck. A very impressive mobile observing platform.

Also highlighted is some pics of my bookshelf (related to another thread on Cloudy Nights).
All the best,
John

You may laugh, but the germ of the idea is good.
Just drive your modified camper van to the dark site, crank the wheels off the ground, open up the top, polar align, start viewing.
I'm surprised that nobody advertises "portable observatories" in this light polluted world.
