When I wanted to change the direction of rotation of the DEC axis, I was pressing the "N/S". However, this button has two features - a short press and a long press. The long press tells the mount to change the direction of the gears. A short press tells the software to which directon North is.
Anyway, I'm a bit more relaxed this morning!

Er....no. The Observatory Director did not study every single word in the manual. I'll have to give him the boot me thinks...
