Michael, good news that you got the problem sorted. Now lets see some results slacker........and don't go using that 'cloud and rain' excuse again. It doesnt wash anymore!

Here's the pillar for my mount. The base part was in from day one. However, to try and rise the scope up as much as possible to increase the view over the observatory walls, I added the second bit. Got it last week and painted it up then. The hole in the top is to allow one to put in a hand/vice to tighten the bolts. For sense of scale, the diameter of tube is 220mm (nearly 9 inches).
The new section of pillar I got made up is round as opposed to square with the original. I may at some stage get an angle grinder and take the corners off the original piece to prevent any injuries from walking into the corners. I needed the top plate of the pillar to be round to minimise the scope hitting it when slewing.
Below then is an image with the scope on the pillar.
Cables for dew heater and usb extension cable can be seen routed through the polar alignment scope area. Keeps the cables tidy and tangle-free.
Made alot of progress with my polar alignment this evening.

Nice one Michael,
Running the cables up inside the pillar is the only way to go.

Michael,
Congrats on the new mount. A quality mount will do wonders to your results and you will keep asking yourself why you waited this long. No words can describe my appreciation for my AP1200GTO and I am sure it will be the same with yourself and the G-41.
