Upgrading to a new scope

I just had a long chat with SWMBO and the upshot is i've been given the OK to order a gemini G41 :woohoo:
With the 3 month wait, it will be mid January before I'll get hold of it, but by all reports it's gonna be worth the wait!
So I really can't wait to hear how Michael is getting on!!!
Hold on your horses for the mo! I'm still in installation-mode down here! I don't want to be the one to blame if it ain't up to expectations!
I'm still getting myself familiar with the hand control emulator on the PC. Have it almost nailed, just one little thing I'm trying to figure out.
I had some nice views through the scope so far. M13 was pretty good. In terms of the scope, when I had the 27mm panoptic eyepiece on, I saw no image shift at all, which is a relief. Hopefully this weekend the weather will be clear and I'll hit the ground running, so to speak.
Having used the scope a little, I realise now that I need to strengthen up the top part of the pillar. However, this suits me fine as I want to raise the mount anyway. I'll get something fabricated up in the next couple of weeks. However, I want to put a bit of thought into it to ensure I get it right. When you're calling over on Saturday Dave G, I might pick you brain. Always good to get a second opinion.

Don;t worry Michael, I'll only take possession of MOST of your worldly goods if it goes pear shaped
I've still some more reading to do over the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing Michael's example and doing a bit of metaphorical 'tyre kicking'. From all i've read about this mount, it seems hard to go wrong.
I'm also looking forward to discussing piers and stuff too!
Regards and Clear Skies,
Dave.

Good to see that there is no image shift, how have you found the PEC programming, have you found it easy to do or have you had to give it a few goes to get it right or almost right??
Have you found an appreciable differance between the 8" and 12" views on objects like M13??
Looks like I'm not the only one you're beta testing the mount for ..
