EVERYONE IN IRELAND BUYS MEADE........

Does anyone else have this scope? me and my father have been contemplating buyin a new scope for quite a while now! this looks like a very good deal! upgrade from the soligor 4.5" we have! the mount looks solid!

1. How did ye find out that itscoming to lidl(i dont see it on their main website)

You can usually change the date in the URL to get info on the next offers before they are publicaly announced.

2.Is it motorised?

Yep the LXD75 mount is motorised and comes with autostar. The mount itself is an adequate mount and should be able to hold that scope comfortably. I've the LXD55 which is a little older and it can just about manage the 10" scope on it ; the LXD75 mount is stronger than the LXD55.

I dont tink the one that Lidl are selling comes with the autostar handheld.

Since the LIDL offers in Ireland are usually a week or two in advance of similar offers in Greece, I notified some friends on a local astronomy BBS that we could be looking at a similar offer here as well. Boy did I light a fire under some butts!

Everyone is begging and hoping that we also are privy to this offer. The mount on its own is worth the cost.

I reckon this scope (mount) might be a good 'starter' scope for deep sky (and other) astrophotography?
