Cool! I just got a return code from them. As soon as I mentioned it was the coating problem they said send it back and they would repair or replace it.
They'll only send to an address in the US but luckily I have friends in Arizona who will forward it on to me from there.

OMG!, Thats an amazing mess up !!, how many years are optics companies making coatings for lenses, and they make a mistake like this!
Trev, since your friends will be shipping from arizona, you'll be paying the cost, are you also paying the cost to send it back for repair ??

Yep, their policy covers postage back to you but since this is a US scope I had to supply a US address. Even if I was in the US I would still have to pay postage back to them though.
Still, at least, I'll get it fixed now. The objective is getting badly covered up now.

I've been lucky so far. I ordered mine before the original release and haven't had a problem yet, it could be that it was manufactured before the issue with the coating. However, this does highlight the real issues we have here with importing instruments made or branded by US companies, which are very much into regionalised distribution. Consumers could really benefit if a serious competitor to mid-range brands like Meade and Celestron were established within the EU, preferably the Eurozone (apart from having to convert from Euro to Sterling consumer goods that originate from or pass through the UK seem to be priced at a premium for no good reason that I can see). Bresser in Germany is one company that fulfills this role at the lower end of the market, but doesn't seem to be allowed to compete with its parent company Meade in the mid-range.

I have got a William Optics 80mm short tube refractor and am in the process of getting a Solarmax 60 filter, although I have yet to receive it. Once I have it, I plan to attach it to the front of the WO scope. I also have an adapter which will connect the PST etalon and diagonal bit into a 2" focuser. Then, I hope to have a double-stacked 60mm h-alpha system.
It's similar to the way a PST is double-stacked except I wanted a larger aperture. Any auld refractor won't work with this setup. The refractor needs to be chosen to allow for the optical configuration in the PST.
If it doesn't work, I'll still have a 60mm h-alpha setup and I can sell the PST.
Please note: I cannot accept any liability for any of the information expressed in this discussion. All work at own risk, etc etc.
Regards,

Hey Michael, are you planning on using the "baader cool erf" and refractor method, with the PST etalon at the back?
