Lumenera Skynyx2-0 monochrome camera was created by carlobeirnes
Hi all,
well it's that time of year again, when one must splash out on new equipment. i've been imaging the planets for some time now with the philips toucam pro webcam. with some good results but since i got the celestron 14" cge telecope i feel the toucam is no longer up to the job. so after many hours of begging, cleaning windows and changing nappies i was allowed to order the new equipment.
So i got down to business and ordered a Lumenera Skynyx2-0 monochrome camera , Astronomik LRGB TYP II 1.25 Inch Filters and ATIK - Manual Filter Wheel. hoping to get imaging pretty soon. i'm looking forward to seeing what this set up will produce image wise.if it ever clears up again.
cheers
ps, Hope to have some images on the boards soon

What? After splashing out on all that lovely kit? Three months of cloud mate - at the least - cheers
What are the specs on the Skynyx? Is a good match for the C14? I was just wondering 'cos I've spent months agonising over a CCD imager and in the end I had to go for a 20 micron pixel chip. And that's close to the limit of the seeing I typically get in Celbridge. I had orginally wanted a 13 micron pixel chip but that would have to be binned 2 x 2 probably 90%+ of the time...
It would be of great interest to see how you get on with setup Carl and hopefully sooner rather than later. I (and others) would also probably appreciate the reasons you chose those particular bits of kit.
Closer to the time (March), I'll post the same
Cheers
Dave

That's a fine camera Carl, I was looking at these Luminera cameras also with a view to planetary imaging, but I've so many other things going on it'll be a while before I get to it, so I'm stuck with the toucam for now. Looking forward to the new cameras images, if the weather ever clears up .

Carl - that's gonna be a serious planetary imager! Are you going to couple it to a Barlow?
It'll certainly test your mount!
Watch out Mr. D. Peach
Cheers and good luck
