I tried really hard to see the point of this article but I'm just not getting it. If they are doing something totally earth-shattering they are REALLY bad at communicating it because I can poke massive holes in their arguments without even trying!

Folks - like some here I'm no optical physicist and I've no idea at all what the article is about other than the development of a new imaging device that might surpass the quality of current imaging devices at some point in the future. Clearly, it can take a rather poor qualiy of the BBC logo - that's pretty much all I got from the article.
On a slightly different note, the article doesn't mention the technolgy they are comparing to - CMOS or CCD. Don't forget, CCD's are far more efficient than CMOS sensors.
