Anybody seen this toucam issue before? was created by TrevorDurity
Howdy,

I recently aqcuired a modded sc1.5 B&W Toucam for guiding and planetary.

It was working fine in when it arrived but since I took it out under clear skies I find that something odd has happened since my first day of tests. I can no longer get lx mode to work and in normal video mode the Shutter Speed control does not work.

Everything looks OK; youcan move the shutter speed slider, it just has no effect. Only way to change brightness is the Gain slider now.

As I mentioned it did work when it arrived, I tested both the normal and LX modes in k3ccdtools. BTW I tried on two separate machines. Got the same issue with both.

Just wondering if anyone came across a problem like this before?

Thanks,

Trev

Trevor,

It sounds like the modificatin has come undone. The connections are really very tiny. I suggest you ask whoever modded the camera to take a look. If thats not an option give me a shout and I can take a look at it.

If the modifiaction has come undone it should still work in normal mode, so that does sound like whats going on.

If this is something you have bought (payed for), I'd send it back.
For what I can gather, it sounds like a fault in the camera to me

I agree with Dave Grennan, it sounds like a wire has come undone on the mod.

Thanks for the advice guys. I got through to the manufacturer and they are going to take a look.

Didn't look like any of the connections on the board were faulty but I guess I'll hear back soon.

Cheers,

Trev

Howdy,

Got it working! Was just about to post if off and took another quick peak to see if there were any loose connections.

Dave was correct about the modification coming undone. A bit of solder on one of the contacts seems to have come in contact with the remote LX switch.

Moving it away fixed everything! Gonna place a plastic spacer in there to stop it happening again.
