sorry John for the fragmented response here.
One more thing,
elaborating on the PEC, if I put a webcam on the scope and look at a bright star in it, and watch it over say a 15 minute period, it does not move in declination at all, so good polar alignment is an attainable goal.
All I need are a few sequential clear nights to see if I can train out the RA PE, and compensate for it with the ST4, I'll just have to wait and see.

Sounds like your getting there Dave.
The Wedge I was planning was the BCF-AC400, serious at over €800.
I was planning on setting up the wedge on a permanent pier in the back garden, and this should minimise the amount of movement I have to do.
The garden does have quite a limited aspect though so I still need to remain mobile (though not really for photography).
I know what I want to do, and I know the limitations I'll be imposing so I guess it's just time to get on with it.
Good luck with the PE training, hope it trains out.

Clear Skies,
