MECHANICAL NOTE: Unless a compact has threads for a filter/accessory attachment ring built into the body (NOT built into the front of a fixed lens that physically extends when the compact is turned on) one should use a digiscoping support frame for afocal eyepiece projection. Lenses that retract on power off and extend when the camera is powered on cannot support the weight of the camera body and will be damaged. Lenses that are sealed within a fixed lens body may have a filter thread on the fixed lens casing, in which case this can be used to attach an eyepiece for digiscoping.
The S602 is a compact that looks like an SLR and I think it has a thread for an attachment ring that is on the lens casing rather than on the moving part of the lens.

Hi Seanie, There's a big difference between a Digital SLR, which is derived from the 35mm film SLR design and uses exchangeable lenses in exactly the same way and a compact camera that has a fixed lens. T-rings only fit digital and 35mm SLRs. In general only SLRs can be attached at prime focus (i.e the telescope becoming an attached lens).
ok sorry im getting mixed up!(leaving cert mocks! tiring) So your camera isnt an slr but is a 35mm lens?
I doubt that will make much of a difference. The reason being many camera manufacturers build their digital cameras from the non-digital body. There's the Canon EOS300 35mm film camera, and then the EOS300D digital 35mm version. It is more to do with making the lenses compatible with each other. It is in the manufacturers best interests really, in order to keep existing customers (if all they have to do is upgrade the technology/camera body).
Seanie.

I have an S602 and an eyepiece adaptor which I got with a scopetronix 40mm maxview eyepiece. I never use the adaptor now so if you want it let me know. I would have to work out how it went together again to let you know if you need anything else. Also think scopetronix is out of business therefore it may not work without the max view eyepiece.

I had the platform adapter for my old Fuji Finepix S5000. Got the platform from William Optics. The only problem with it was the platform was to short for the camera body so a bit of doctering had to be done. I also found it hard enough to line the camera lense up with the eyepiece but with practice you get the hang of it. If you want to try the platform let me know as I don't use it anymore

Another device you might consider is the Orion SteadyPix
www.telescope.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=65
It will aid imaging through an eyepiece.
Forget t-thread and the like, From what I can see of your camera on the web, the front lens doesn't not come off, so they are of no use to you.
I don't see any threads on your camera in the below link.
