A lesson to be learned is that if you are going to upgrade go for a MUCH larger aperture.
My 6" RGT Celestron refractor performs about the same visually as my 20 year old 8" Meade SC.
My net scope will be a 20".(Lottery win expected soon.)

If you read the part about his dome you'll note that he's seperated. Still nice set up!

I'm with you on that one Peter, might as well go the full hog, no half measures, saving money now will only cost you more in the long run.
