It might seems like a good bargin, but you just don't know what you're getting, who knows how the clutches/gears/worm have been treated over the years?, they may be perfect or damaged causing terrible periodic error which would defeat the purpose of the mount.

That shouldn't matter really if there is a warranty on the product, as I am sure there is. You know, you can't sell a prduct, no matter how old or unsused it is, without assuring it can still operate within normal parameters. On this assumption (and with a warranty included), I would say I'd go for it if I could get such a great mount for cheap. It is only 4 years old after all - it was practically state-of-the-art back then - what's an extra 4 years? :)

What concerned me Seanie, was it's not really *that*cheap 2700stg is, what, about 4K euro the whole rig new would cost around 5K snd remember this is an early version of the field version, not even the observatory grade mount.

Of course if they are open to offers that might be another story.

So you reckon Dave they'd be chancing their arm for the asking price if someone not-so-knowledgeable in haggling came along an took it at that? ;)

I wouldn't go that far Seanie. I suppose its a matter of perspective. A fair price is what someone is willing to pay, I suppose. Since no-one bought this yet maybe they are asking too much. When I was buying my mount I thought long and hard about this mount and came to the conclusion that It wasn't worth what was being asked. Maybe if I haggled, who knows, I didn't.

Only a grand off, I would have thought half to 2/3rds price would have been reasonable, that seems a bit steep.
