Hi all
I am considering purchasing some of these eyepieces, does anyone out there have any experience of them?
They offer a good FOV, not in the Nagler league, but then again, neither are the prices, and good eye relief. I also like the fact that they can be used in both 1.25 and 2" diagonals.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
Paul

Hi Paul,
They are truly excellent EPs I have the 21mm and had a 5mm.
One word of advice though. You'd be better off with the 17mm than the 21 as the 21 does not have the 68 degree afov as advertised - it gives the same field as the 17mm & delivers a darker sky background.
I like them so much I ordered the new Hyperion zoom EP. 2 month waiting list on it though.
If you are using a fast scope these EPs are really good, giving sharp images close to the edge. Worked brilliantly in my f5 newt.

Hi Trev
I plan to use them in my 80mm refractor at f/6 and my 8" SCT at f/10.
Needless to say an eyepiece like the 3.5mm or the 5mm will not work in the SCT as they would give ridiculous magnifications of 571X and 400X respectively. The 8mm would give a nice 250X.
On the 80mm they would yield 131X and 96X respectively. The 8mm yields a magnification of 60X.
Thanks for the advice on the 21mm, for the moment I might just go for the 8mm, 13mm and the 17mm. If the wallet strecthes far enough, and at the moment the seams are starting to strain, the 5mm could be added for the 80mm and the 3.5mm possibly at a later date.
If I purchase them I'll let you know how they perform.
Thanks again.

If you buy three ask nicely and you might get a reduction! the lads at telescope service are really nice and care about their customers!

I have the full set. My scopes range from f/5 to f/13 so focal lengths that aren't much use on one scope are critical on another. I did choose to get the 21mm because with the Smythe lens removed it doubles as an effective 32mm 'finder' eyepiece - so I can bring fewer eyepieces when travelling.
