impressive scope, I don't believe I could fit in the back of the car. I suppose it's destined for an observatory.
You could use your 16" for a finderscope :lol:
anyway I bet the views are jaw dropping under the right conditions.

Yeah, I've been following this on the ATM list - impressive! There are a number of amateur built monsters out there (up to 42") ground and polished by DIY machine and figured by hand. Also some impressively thin mirrors being made. One guy made a 16" - 20" (I forget which) by 1/8" thick to see if it could be done and to test the limits of wiffle-tree support. It worked (within limits!)

Very impressive. However, the one thing I don't like about such large Dobs (if I was lucky enough to have one) would be the exposed mirror. For such a large area of a sensitive part of the instrument to be exposed like that would worry me. I guess the truss part could be wrapped with some sort of cloth?
