Lidl's Bresser 10X50 Binoculars was created by Rayman
Hi All,
Lidl have the Bresser 10X50 Binos from Thursday the 9th April. They're getting cheaper... 17.99, Thats a reduction of about 1 euro per year, In 18 years they will be giving them away for free:laugh:
They also have 10X25, I'm going on hols in June and usually pack the 10X50's for the clear skys, this time we are going to the mountains in Mallorca so I am hoping it will be clear and dark, unfortunatly we are going by Ryanair, with check in luggage so they will charge us, so I would like to save weight and space where possible. Is there any point in buying and bringing the 10X25? Is the FOV going to be too small to make it enjoyable, or am I wrong?
Mark

I think 10x50 will outshine the 10x25's... magnification is the same but the objective size of 50mm will drag in more light. Others I am sure will agree, 10x25 would be ok for terrestrial stuff but weak for astronomy purposes.

Yea, thats what I was thinkin, I'll save the 8.99 for the Luggage fees, or maybe the Toilet Fee

I was coming in here to make this thread. Are the 10X50's good for astronomy though? I want a good pair of binoculars to use with my scope and I was waiting to see what Lidl or Aldi offered, are these a good deal or did they offer better ones before? (Meade bino's I think?). I thought I remembered reading somewhere that 15X70 is the minimum for good astronomy with binoculars. I want to be able to pick out an object and the stars around it before I go looking for it with the scope, I'm in slightly light polluted skies, is that feasible with these or can you recommend a better cheap option?

If they are like previous years, they are very good quality binoculars for a very very good price.
You don't need 15x70s to get started with binocular astronomy.
A pair like that would be good, but would require a decent tripod too.
If you have no binos, it would be well worth your while getting the Bresser ones.
Excellent value for money.
Michael.

10x50 will work fine, 10x25s will give a dimmer image.
From past experience, check your binos before you leave the shop, there have been instances in the past where the came out of the box faulty.
15x70s are better yet but you might need a tripod because of the weight.
The 10x50s are excellent cheap binos.
