Recoating a corrector plate/lens was created by dave_lillis
Hi All,
Has anyone ever heard of where you might get a SCT corrector plate recoated with anti reflective coatings?. We have a 10" plate that has lost some of its coating but the scope's optical figure is one of the best I've ever seen for a SCT, so its worth getting it done if possible.
I'm not shipping this complete scope back to Meade, that would be a real expensive option. Shipping the plate separately would be the way to go but I dont think Meade will take it.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,

Your best bet is to search the MAPUG mailing list archives - others are bound to have done this before. Check out: www.mapug-astronomy.net/ . Removing and shipping the corrector plate in its cell would be the way to go, but remember to put index marks on both the scope tube and corrector cell, *and* the corrector cell and the *edge* of the corrector plate so that you can re-align the corrector exactly as it was installed in the factory. Believe it or not, rotating the corrector in its cell can affect the level of correction!

Phil.
