Does anyone know of a good place to get a case for eyepieces and also a case for holding a Meade LX90? I've had a look around and as regards the scope, I've only seen a case from JIMS cases whihc is nice but the shipping costs from the states are as much as the case itself. I haven't seen anything else around really over this side of the world. Has anyone else tracked down cases for their gear and what would you recommend?

Yup, second that.
Those Maplin cases are the biz.
They come with foam with perforated square chunks
that you can tailor make to suit your bits n bobs.

Also,
B&Q a while back did a set of these cases
(4 in all) One sitting inside the other for
the same price as the Maplin one, except no foam.

Still, great for other gear.

Thanks guys! I'll definitely look at the Maplins cases. They look great and just the job!

How do you transport your scopes to observing sites? Do you know where I could get a good case for my scope? What do you use?

There are a couple of Maplins stores in Dublin, one in Blanchardstown and the other in Jervis street. Don't know what the prices are but they might work out cheaper than getting one shipped from the UK.

I store my scopes out of thier cases in the shed,
which never gets too hot or humid.
Obviously everything is capped for dust or bugs.
When transporting to a site I just put a quilt into
the boot and cradle the OTA into it.

Did the scope not come in a box when you got it?
I still use the box the ETX was shipped in as it's
perfect for the job when going on longer journeys.

Although having said that,
I did take the OTA on a plane as hand luggage once,
in a rucksack padded by T'shirts, jocks n' socks!

Some strange looks and questions at the Xray machine but
all was good.
It fit into the overhead also like a glove.

Getting back to your question,
If you really want to do a good job,
there are guys out there on ther web that will build
custom flight cases for your OTA.
