AP 305/f3.8 Riccardi-Honders Astrograph

Gents ... and Seanie,

Early December I received the new toy from Astro-Physics, namely their AP 305/f3.8 RHA (serial number #3). Speak about a mean machine.

My only concern is the weight of the OTA and which comes in at 58 lbs. Add the dewshield (6-7 lbs), the dovetail plate with rings (another 6-7 lbs) and you have a hefty scope which basically requires a permanent installation.

I hope to have first light over the next few weeks and when the humidity subsides.

Anthony - that is indeed a serious concern for you. I'm flabbergasted at the total weight. I'd strongly suggest you seriosly reconsider deploying this OTA. Indeed, you must have been mad to purchase it in the first place. I'm genuinely very worried for you.
