Can We Reverse The Universe ? was created by bradguth-gasa-ieis
Through the known laws of astrophysics, and of perhaps a few temporary conjectures, and of implementing a truly massively parallel computing effort so as to back up the universe, as to show where the likes of everything was, and especially that of Sirius in relationship to our solar system.

I'd like to see a per thousand year timeline going back a few million years worth. Is that doable?

Or has this already been accomplished?

Do you mean something like this?:

Calculating Precise Long Term Stellar Motions

John.

Everyone in Ireland buys Meade, and they all buy them from Lidl.

Right, that's the ticket; Calculating Precise Long Term Stellar Motions

Thanks for the feedback.

The only problem with that is that it does not take into account the exceptional events such as supernovae, location of the density waves etc. back towards hundreds of millions of years back you have unsociable globular clusters and even the Magelanic clouds giong through the plane of the galaxy to complicate matters.

So going back many millions of years is not likley to be accurate. Though I have seen a simulation that took the positions of local stars and worked back to estimate their locations one galactic revolution ago )~250 million years). Cant find the URL though, sorry.

Cheers,

Thanks Al,

I'll do a few searches on this topic, and report back if there's a solution at hand.

Otherwise, if you think of anything, just post it and I'll have a look-see.

BTW; I believe a few of those those "exceptional events" can be included if we applied a sufficient number of parallel CPUs. There should be only a million or so outcomes worth considering.

Not worth it.
