Folks,

I presume you have all heard of Celestia. It's simply one of the very best programs out there, and it's free!

www.shatters.net/celestia/

It needs a good graphics card. But what you get is amazing! Not only can you fly around the solar system and through time, you can also fly around the galaxy! You can download extensions - for instance, high resolution maps of the planets, or even just parts of the planets. It does spacecraft - not only accurate positions of the spacecraft (including interplanetary craft), but also real, rotatable pictures of them!

And, you can download fictional planets and spacecraft - for instance, the starship Enterprise!

All in all, the very best (IMHO) program for the money!

Just installed it on Fedora Core 3. If you have apt installed and the freshrpms repository selected can simply install it by typing:

[code:1]
apt-get install celestia
[/code:1]

Man I just love Linux and especially Linux installsl that support apt!

2 has been out for longer than that!!!

3 is indeed out and the improvement is just amazing. I upgraded my laptop last week and it worked like a charm!

You can also apt-get celestia in Core 2 BTW (if you have apt installed that is!)

Bart,
as Linux is copyleft software, I have no fear asking you here if you woudn't mind copying the iso's and posting them down so I can install it here?
