I'm amazed i got anything at all considering the fog rolled in off the sea as soon as I started imaging. Details under the image.

Martin Mc Kenna
coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680

Oh my God!!!!
Kenny looks frozen too!, that's what I looked like last night too as well.
Good effort under the bad fog last night Dave.
By the way, I'll send some images to your website soon!

A good attempt Dave.
There was a light hazy mist here also before the cloud rolled in.
Did you try any kind of autoguiding?

Good attampt dave. Still, with what you have at your disposal, I'd really like to see it without the fog!

My problem is that I live quite close to the sea on the north coast of Dublin. ALthough this means the sky is quite dark to the east it also means theres always a possibility of sea fog rolling in if the weather is coming from the east.
Dave, the usual setup of my SC3 modified webcam and Guidedog v1.06.
I discovered something about guidedog during this session that I dont really like, if for some reason the guidestar is lost (say due to fog or imtermittant clouds) then when its re-acquired the software tries to rush the scope back to its guide position rather than nudging it gently. This can cause the guiding to overshoot and oscillate. I had to dump three images which would otherwise be good because of this. Actually although guiddog is fantastic considering its free there are one or two limitations that i'd love to see overcome in the next version. one is that it requires the guidecamera to be perfectly aligned along the ra/dec axis. With a little bit more programming it could be made to calibrate like the SBIG ST4 does and figure out where its oriented. I understand Maxim DSLRs guiding functionality works like this. This would make the whole process much nicer. I've often though if I had tonnes of time on my hands I'd love to sit down and write the killer autoguiding program.
