Oh for the wings, the wings of a, erm Eagle... was created by dmcdona
Folks, I shot this last night after doing some MPC work.
I imaged the Eagle Nebula and showed you the fruits of my labours 10 months ago. What struck me was the difference between then and now. Seems as though I've learned something
The two images are at the top of the page, side by side. Compare and enjoy!
Cheers

You got soem great detail there Dave. What was different this time? Just the exposure times? What about passing it through some colour?

Seanie - exposure duration is king! My last image was 28 images of 60 seconds each. The new one was more than double that.
In fact, I actually threw in 4 images of 300 seconds each - the remainder were 120 second images. I just totalled up the exposure time and called 'em all 120 s exposures in the description...
But all in all, its one hour's worth of expsoures and it shows. BTW, M16 was not very high up above the horizon so its even more surprising that the image came out so well.
I really don't like doing colour processing - its so complicated and my results with the DSI have been at best, dubious. But seeing as the images are pretty good, I may give it a go if I get the time
I guess it shows you that you can improve... My equipment hasn't changed since the last time, so it must've been my techniques. All that polar aligning and tweaking certainly helped.
Cheers
