The Coathanger Cluster in Vulpecula was created by Keith g
Hi all, What a great Summer night it was last night, pity it did'nt get totally dark, I had a go at this wonderful cluster in Vulpecula, smack bang in the middle of the milkyway. I've loved looking at this through the years over and over with my binoculars, I've always wanted to photograph it, but my polar alignment last night was bad, I rushed it as I was short on time to set up with twighlight and all, not getting going until after 1am.
Here it is - I only got 5 shots at ISO 1600, 2x30sec, 3x40 sec, 3 dark frames. I was going to delete all of them !! but deepsky stacker done a great job. Processed in PS7. I'll defintely get a better shot with more frames next time!
Have a look at this cluster if you've never seen it before - you'll see why it's called Brocchi's Cluster or simply the 'Coathanger'

I've always loved this cluster! My best memory of it was watchine Ceres track through it many moons ago.
Nice image!

Simply wonderful Keith.
Your focus looks a lot better to me in that shot than it does in the lagoon shot.
Well done and keep em coming.
