Hi all,
this is another astrophotographic opportunity for all you buffs out there, supplementary but seperate to the official IFAS Monthly Astrophotography Competition.
The Web Team is looking for some images to freely use in the new IFAS website. So, what we are proposing is a competition! This will be once-off, and time is limited, but we would like as much input as possible from any and all IFAS members.
The winning entries will be used throughout the IFAS site for such things as background images, header images, even thumbnails. By submitting an image and possibly being chosen as a winner, you will allow your image(s) to be freely used by IFAS through any means it may need them EXCEPT for profit.
The Terms & Conditions are:
1. The competition is open to all IFAS members, wether a member of a club or not.
2. All entries can be as large in dimensions as the originator wants. If an image needs to be edited for dimensions, or cropped to best suit the frame, you are allowing the Web Team to do so.
3. There is no size limit, but 10MB tiffs are somewhat discouraged! After all, it will be converted to e.g. about a 50KB jpeg.
4. With regards to point 3, you absolve all rights against IFAS, EXCEPT where it applies beyond its stated use i.e. image portrayal purposes only - no profit shall be sought against ANY image, and full credit will be given.
5. Entries may be sent to photo_competition@irishastronomy.org either as an attachment or a link to the image.
6. Closing date is August 30th.
The winners will have their images immortalised throughout the new IFAS website, and will remain as such for as long as possible!
The Web Team will view all images and decide for themselves which will be best for e.g. a background image, a header etc. Accordingly, the entries will be added to a poll for each section. For example, in a Background Image Poll, these are the images the Web Team deem suitable - please vote for a winner, and the same for a Header Image Poll etc. The same entry may be included in each category if deemed suitable.
This is for photographs only, and how you take it is up to you.
Failing this, the Web Team will be forced to trawl through the net to seek permissions on other peoples work. We would like to refrain from doing this as much as possible, thus keeping the new IFAS site original and self-sustaining.
Good Luck!
