Had another night of exceptional seeing at Murrumbateman, just 50km north of Canberra.

Here are two images from this session, the second one shows a transit of Io and its shadow. Io is visible if you look closely on the right hand side of the equatorial region.

regards, Bird

Wonderful images Bird!
The best visual images I ever saw through a telescope were from Queensland. The seeing is so much better in Australia than in Ireland.

Magnificent Bird

No wonder we in Ireland are insanely jealous of our Antipodean cousins.

Stunning images.

Speaking of our antipodean ancestors/cousins, do you know why Australians always go up at the end of a sentence? 'Cos most of them went down at the beginning of one - boom, boom! :D

Sorry - couldn't resist!

Stunning shots - and more detail on Io!!!!! I am genuinely gob-smacked!

Bird,

Stunning, thanks for sharing with us. With Jupiter getting no higher than 20 degrees for the entire season we are relying on our southerly brethern to provide our Jovian 'fix'.

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.
