Venus image, this eveing 7pm was created by dave_lillis
Well lads, given the mad weather we've been having and were going to get tomorrow, I thought it might be a good idea to have a look at Venus.
It really is setting fast these days, much nearer to then horison thern it was only 3 weeks ago.
Here is a pic of it at 7pm this evening

farm2.static.flickr.com/1216/642165706_62d789ec75_o.jpg
Equipment = 12" lx200(scope in avatar) + 3xtelevue barlow + toucam pro
Stacked 1500 frames in registax and expanded the canvas + levels in photoshop.

It was clearly visible to the naked eye in broad day light at 7pm so it was easy to get it in the scopes field of view. The phase has lessened while the disk diameter has increased. The seeing was all over the place, as you could imagine with the sun high in the sky and a good wind blowing.
If its clear where you are this evening, go have a look, given the weather it might be the last time for a week or so, by then it will be much nearer to the horizon.

Very nice Dave. I'm at the same crack now myself!
Question.
Have you got the filters to try and catch some cloud detail?
Or what kind of filters do you need?

I tried a deep blue+violet filter but all it did was dim the image alot, nothing like what I'd call cloud detail was visible. Others might have more luck.
I tried a violet filter, but the toucam is not sensitive enough to see through it.
