M39 LRGB - Open cluster in Cygnus was created by ayiomamitis
Dear friends .... and the guy running the monthly competition,
A very impressive cluster is M39 in Cygnus lying about nine degrees southeast of Sadr.
Battling 5 Beaufort winds, I did not expect very much with my final result. Although I was pleasantly surprised when all of the integrations were processed, a second visit will be required to nail pinpoint stars throughout the image.
Last night's result based on two hours total exposure is available at www.perseus.gr/Astro-DSO-NGC-7092.htm .

Anthony,
That is simply magnificent 10/10!!
There is almost a three dimensional look to it. Congrats on a wonderful image.

Hi Dave,
It is unfortunate that open clusters (and clusters in general) are often overlooked. There is a real joy observing and imaging these celestial diamonds.
Glad you like the image and thanks for the kind words!

Nice image Anto.
Have you ever tried x2 binning for the RGB channels? I've heard of some folks doing this but I've no idea the difference it makes.
The background is certainly a tad noisy but extra data will scrub it clean.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.
