Hi John

I too have the Meade 6 inch LXD75, (soon to get a 11" SCT_ CGE), and have used it for Astrophotography, with surprisingly good results.

I have never used the Meade Deep Sky Imager, so I cant comment on that particular camera. However, for Lunar and Planetary imaging I use a Philips SPC900 pixel plus webcam, with an adapter to fit it to the eyepiece holder.

For widefield and deep sky imaging I use a Canon 350D camera, with the T ring and adapter, to fit it to the scope.

The beauty about the Canon camera is that during the frustrations of bad irish weather, you can use it for ordinary photography too.

You can see some of the results in the gallery section of my website (select "Astrophotography" from the drop down list in the Gallery page), which should give you an idea of what is achievable using the LXD.

Hope this helps

Hi John,
If you want Planetary images, then the toucam (now called the SPC900) is the way to go, shot outs with it and the LPI on the web give the nod to the philips camera.
The DSI is a nice starter camera, its drawback is a narrow field of view but is relatively cheap as far as CCD cameras go the Canon DSLR range is quite good (300D, 350D, 400D) as it has a much wider field of view and is holiday camera also. The camon makes for an excellent lunar camera and you'll be getting results on your first night, deepsky imaging is trickier but very feasible with Canon
Follow the link for a wide field moon image I got with the Canon.
