Well guys, fortunately the nice night on tuesday coincided with about the only time of the year I can actually get my scope this low in the south. I always wanted to get this but was almost resigned to failure until last night. I would have liked more exposure time for this but 'beggers can't be choosers' as they say!!

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Dave,
Low on the horizon or not, this is a nice catch! I have tried it a couple of times as well but my seeing due south and with low altitude is quite crummy.
Like you, I will stick at it ... question of time.

Nice image Dave, always great to see an Irish perspective of the Eagle. The colours could be tweaked a little - there is a bit too much pink from the red methinks. Most of the stars are showing a pink tint. What would it looked like if the red was pulled back ever so slightly? It's just a curiosity thing, I don't mean to take away from the great job you did.
