Deep Sky Stacker - first result was created by paulevans
I could never get this program to work for me - it simply wouldn't find any stars in my images - until last night when I downloaded v2.6.3 and fed it 6 static 15 sec images (24mm f2.8, ISO3200) of the Summer Triangle plus an artificial Dark Frame that I made from one of the others.

The result after nearly an hour of grinding and a bit of curve/level adjustment was this....

I think this has definite possibilities!

No Frank, I didn't have my mount out last night - I just did a bit of a tour of the sky with my little ETX-70 - a scope that astounds me every time I take it out!

No, these were just 15 sec exposures with camera on tripod and 24mm lens. There's not much trailing within each exposure and DSS seems to cope with the fact that there's movement between frames.

Hi John,

It's actually six pictures, all taken through a good sky with a sharp lens and a 6 megapixel sensor so all that is different from what you see is that more light has been collected.

The angle of view is close to what the eye would see.
