M81 & fighting LP was created by phoenix
OK so M81 is fairly low at the minute and sitting in some very nice man made sky glow on my northern horizon but what the hell, thought I'd give it a shot.

Kieran - that's a really nice shot. Can you give any further details?

Cheers
Dave

Dave,

All subframes binned 2x2, luminance ~ 50mins rgb 30 mins each. Very little red response from this galaxy but a lot of background LP made it worse. I knew from its location that it would be a struggle but hey, at least its easier than a small mag 18 target :D

Kept hearing a noise while I was out :? . Scared the hell out of me at one stage  . When I was shutting down I realised the cable for the dew heater had wound round the pillar lifting the power source off the floor. As the scope tracked and released the cable the power source would drop down a bit. Very relieved to find the cause  .

Great capture there Kieran a lot of red star forming regions visible and the wispy tail ends of the spiral nice gives it an almost nonstatic look.

oh wise man why is the universe so perfect?ah because symmetry loves herself.
