stock2 or as I like to call it the blair witch cluster

Hi Folks
My eq1 mount and drive came today and believe it or not I had some clear skies. I tried for the double cluster but missed by a bit, i picked up stock 2 instead. Its a stack of two shots. Looking forward to getting out to some dark skies and having another crack at it.

Hi Trevor, I was waiting for the 300D to turn up That's not a bad shot, I see some good colour there, the most important thing is to get the mount very well polar aligned - believe me you will cut down on a lot of extra work and time - I'd Love to see the double cluster, have a go again next clear night..

Stock 2 is a good cluster also, good in binoculars with a loose look to it. What lens did you use?

The lens was a sigma 70-300.

Now there's a thought, I have exactly the same lens !!!!

Maybe I should give it a go.......

I look forward to seeing that. As for polar alignment, I have no idea how to do it accurately. I gave a best guess the other night and it didn't seem too bad at 30 sec's. How accurate do i have to be? If I centre polaris in the camera would that be good enough.

Also there is variable speed on the drive so it will take some time before I have that down also.

Lots to learn, but I am looking forward to it.

a few more from tonight, the double cluster and andromeda. Cant seem to get rid of light pollution on andromeda pic using pauls method, any suggestions
