Hi all,
With a couple of rare clear nights in a row I got some time to have a crack at NGC 281 The Pacman Nebula. So I got all the luminance in one night the RGB the next. I'm quite happy with the Result
Image taken 16th&17th of September,New Haven Observatory Balbriggan.Through a Celestron 80ED piggybacked on a CGE14" with ATIK 16HR CCD guided through C14 with 6.3 focal reducer with phd guiding LRGB 180:60:60:60 No Flats with 1x1 Binning.Processed in ImagesPlus V2.8 And PhotoShop CS2.

Hey Carl after seeing the luminance you got i knew that it was going to be a cracker and i was right well done. You managed to pick up some really fine detail within the nebula itself a fine example of LRGB imaging, the guiding looks spot on also. That ATIK16 hr is one hell of a ccd i cant wait to get out with my own but with uni starting on Monday it will probably be another 6 months before i can start exposures that long unless i can convince my lectures to let me do some sort of project with it?

Hi Dave,
The luminance was 60x3min and RGB 20X3min each.

Very nice Carl, some nice colour in there.
Any chance of getting a ghost nebula to go with the pacman.

Superb photo Carl!
Now I'm going to ask a stupid question I first saw the "Pacman" game in the early '80s - it came after the Space Invaders and Asteroids games. So what was this nebula called before that?
