Grand Orion was created by Keith g
Hello again I was just out at my costal retreat in Waterford over the weekend, whereby Friday's night sky was simply stunning, the stars were absolutely glistening Here is a test shot of the constellation Orion with my new canon 400D - 24-70mm L zoom lens combo to see how it would turn out, piggybacked on the C8.
This is a stack of just two 3 minute exposures at 34mm, f3.5, ISO 800 along with three dark exposures. You can see a bit of neblosity from the unmodified 400D, namely the orion nebula (obviously!), the rosette nebula, the flame nebula and barnard's loop. There's a slight bit of high cloud at bottom. I'd like to give this a better go soon to get even more detail.
Keith..

Nice one Keith. It's that kind of wide-field shot that I want to do that would prompt me to modify the 350D to remove the IR filter. Imagine your picture there without the IR filter! Twould be stunning!
