Hi gang,
Heres my first ever attemot at mars. Its been so long since I went webcaming I almost forgot how to get K3ccd to work. After 5 minutes I figured out how to get the preview screen to work.
Now what were the setting to use?.....hmmmmm.....ohhhh what the heck. Just try anything that looks ok before the wind and the rain closes in again.
Also managed to finally bag this most beautiful galaxy that has been on my list for a while now, NGC 6503 in Draco. A galaxy that is peculier in that it is one of the few that is approaching us.....
P.S Must remember to take flats next time -before I take off the camra..... doh.

Grand shots Dave.
Mars looks a good size.
Maybe the colour is a little orange / green?
What scope / settings did you use?

Nice shots Michael, your first Mars image (EVER) looks like one to be proud of. There are features and a hint of 'northern' polar ice, which even a novice could spot I reckon.

Nice Mars there, at least it's getting a little big!
As for that galaxy, there's a lot of dust there, I might do a search to see a comparison on the net There's a lot of detail there David!
Keith..

Thanks for the comments guys
The settings that I can remember are the gain down to zero and brightness down low. Saturation I put up a bit because I wanted to get some colour. 10 frames per second over 3 minutes. I think that there were about 750 frames in the final stack. The scope used was an LX90 8" and a barlow.
NGC6503 is about 10 mag and was very bright and easily visible in Draco. It is very close to a relatively bright 8 mag star which acts as a good sign post.
