I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but seeing as the technical, aristical, and photographical sages hang here I'll give it a shot. I found a bunch of film slides I took many years ago, including some sky shots. What do I need to scan these images?

Declan,
Some good photography shops should be able to scan them onto CD.
I know that Gunns in Dublin would do this, but I am not sure of any shop in Cork that would.
Maybe ask on photographyireland.net for a local store in Cork that would scan them for you.

You might be able to pick up a slide scanner cheaply somewhere. I got mine a few years ago from ffordes.com

Can't remember the specs offhand but it was something like 2500dpi and 8 or 12 bit for ~€100.

If you have a lot of slides/negatives it may be cheaper than getting a shop to do it!

I haven't got that many at all, less than 100 in fact. A shop might be the best way to go.

Hi Declan
Any of the more established photo labs that process film should have a slide scanner,as they print photos from slide,
If you have any problems let me know as a mate of mine is a pro phographer here in Dungarvan and he has a dedicated Nikon Coolscan slide scanner, and I know he is very good on price .
Check out the file image size on offer from the labs ,as I know my mate scans at C. 14 to 18 megabytes per slide.
