X marks the spot! was created by paulevans
Got a bit of clarity this evening and took the mount outside - this was a lineup shot with a bit of help from a couple of passing satellites!

I like the diffuse coma surrounding the denser inner. Better than anything I achieved with Machholz .

What equipment and exposure time were you using?

Great shot Paul!

That bottom one seems to have been tumbling and reflecting different
brightnesses.

Thanks guys - the sats were travelling at quite different speeds and therfore different altitudes as the different length of the trails - exposure time was 30secs - the "tumbler" would be in quite a high orbit.

James, the setup was as follows:-

Meade LXD75 mount, Minolta Dynax 5D camera directly mounted with 50mm f1.7 lens - exposure 30secs f2.5 ISO 1600, RAW image processed with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 with ACR4.1.

Like your Machholz shot - I remember imaging that on film as it cruised past M45 over a few nights!
