Pleiades - Again

I had another bash at imaging M45 again last night. This time with my new scope C8N-GT and Canon 350D at prime focus.
10x30sec frames stacked in DSS, adjustments in IRIS and final polish in MS Digital Image Pro 10. This time I definitely got some of that wispy Pleiades cloud. Could have been framed better to get more in, but I was just using the session to get more experience with the new scope.

Mighty different to mine. Mind you i wasnt using a telescope. The big white thing is the moon...not a street lamp.

Your are making some great strides with your new equipment and it shows in this beautiful photo of an old favourite of mine. The nebulosity is definitely there and you do not have to strain your eyesight to look for it, it’s such a natural photo in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing more of your work, please post soon!

That is a better attempt than I had when I started out trying to photograph the night sky!
Try to capture a clear image of M45 on its own with different zoom levels, make note of exposure settings for such dimmer sky objects. Try to capture a clear image of the Moon, also make note of settings. In this way, you build up knowledge base about both your equipment and technique. Just for fun, you could then try to paste one picture onto the other so you have a correctly exposed and balanced Moon shot beside an exposed and balanced M45 shot all in one, have fun experimenting!

Clockwise from top left: Alcyone, Maia, Taygeta, Caliano, Electra and Merope. Unfortunately I'm missing Atlas and Pleione. I didn't intend this to be an imaging session, purely a get to know you situation with the new setup.

I've only ever tried a bright and dim object simultaneously, with a single exposure once before, and that was with the relatively bright Saturn and the moon just after the occultation last May: farm1.static.flickr.com/207/513452948_00a2a4e4ef_o.jpg
It's much harder when you're trying to expose for both stars and the moon.

Nice shot, did you add the star spikes in with photoshop or did the scope do them.
