Nice shot, Trev.
What time was it taken? I was observing around 1pm and thought the faintest one in your picture was detached from the surface (by about 2/3 the height of the arch). But it was quite faint visually (through a DS SM40), and I'm a real novice to this solar stuff so I can't be sure. Does it take minutes, hours or days for one of these to move or detach?
-- Jeff.

I was solar observing most of the day (on and off). Nothing to report unfortunately.
Although i did catch a plane crossing the sun..................that was pretty amazing to see.
Lovely pic..................BTW.

Very nice Trevor - well done.
Can't wait for this solar cycle to rev up and get going.

Hey Jeff, the shots were taken between at around 12:45.
The right hand prom was very faint in the PST but I was just about to able to make it out as attached to the limb - I stared at it for ages so it may have been my imagination though. Had to play around with the view a bit in the PST to get it in the sweet spot which is the one failing of that particular scope. Time to upgrade to that Maxscope 90 and mortgage the house
Usually you could notice the change in shape every couple of hours but sometimes you get really quick moving proms that are only visible for an hour or two.

Did you see the image that Anthony got published last year? A brilliant h-alpha pic with the silhouette of a jet just passing in front of the disc. I had that one as my desktop wallpaper for ages.
