Dear friends ... and ??????,
What a great eclipse we experienced a few days ago with LOTS of intervening thrill and anxiety. Anyone, all is well that ends well, for the weather did clear a couple of hours prior to first contact and the dense clouds reappeared about an hour after the completion of the eclipse.
I took a total of 66 images, all preplanned and well-timed, and which led to my two samples.
Further details in relation to these results are available at www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2008-08-01d.htm and www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2008-08-01.htm .
It was a real treat seeing Frank, Michael and Dave but disappointed to not also see, for example, Seanie and Dave Grennan. Perhaps next year in China.
With eager and anxiety I await the results from Frank and Michael.

Absolutely top notch work there Anthony - I'm glad you had a great time! I observed from the same latitude as you, just 90deg to the West which made all the difference. Next time I'll be there - less than a year and counting!
What's the star to the right of the Sun/Moon on your composite exposure? Asellus Borealis is the only object on my map - surely Mercury was further out?
Clear Skies,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Glad you like the results and, perhaps, here is an even better one: www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2008-08-01c.htm . I would like to dedicate this result to my Irish friends (and Seanie) who could not make it to the eclipse for one reason or another.
Anthony.

Fantastic images as always Anthony.
It was great to finally meet you and hopefully next time we meet (in China perhaps?) we'll have more time to have a few beers together.

One question - what's the bright body that appears to the right of the sun in the image - Mercury perhaps?
