Jupiter 14th Aug 2008 was created by wellbuttie
At long last a chance to use the scope after months of cloud. I managed to image Jupiter for the first time on the 14th of August. Despite it being rather low in the sky. This is the result:

Taken from Cherrymount, Waterford

Roll on when it is higher in the sky.

Steve,

That's a good image for a first attempt. Jupiter is problematic imaging
at such a very low elevation. By using a PADC (Planetary Atmosphere Dispersion
Converter) you can compensate for this problem and yield a lot more detail.

not bad at all Steve,
like the guys say , given its low altitude you are doing well to see it at all.

I like that image Steve, it reminds me (don't laugh now!) of Leonardo DiCaprio sinking into the abyss of the Atlantic at the end of 'Titanic'! ;) I know it's not what you were going for, but under the seeing conditions you got, I'm getting a feeling of good depth there...

...and I wonder why no one talks to me.
