Hi guys & gals,

This is the first image taken in the second half of 2008.

Image of Spiral Galaxy NGC 7331

After a lot of rain, the sky was clear early morning with very good clarity. There are four other nebulae in this image. I haven’t checked them out. Any body any know them?

These are multiple images in order to obtain improve S/N. These multiple images have been stacked and processed using MaximDL and then cleaned up using MIRA PRO 7.5.

I do plan to take further images of this galaxy using specific filters.

Eamonn, that is superb detail aquired with this popular galaxy.

The detail that seperated dust from light in the spiral arms i sthere to see well. I wonder how Messier missed it??

Well done on a fabulous shot!

Wow, so much dust detail in the spirals. Its like looking down at a hurricane from the ISS in orbit.

Amazing image Eamonn!

Splendid image considering the bright moonlight over the last couple of nights. I saw this object on Wednesday 20th from the city, but it took ages to find. Much better view and much easier to find on Friday night from a dark site in Co. Down, although even then, only the bright central area was clearly visible, with just a hint of the spiral arms.
As for the nearby galaxies, Sue French describes them as background galaxies, no more than 14th magnitude, so I presume they are not on the NGC list.

Glad you all liked the image.

In fact the image was taken when the Moon was covered by some cloud.

I hope to take another image of it using different filters and using longer exposures.
