The North America Nebula - May 25th was created by wellbuttie
At long last an opportunity to attempt some Deep Sky imaging came about last night. So I set my sights on The North America Nebula in Cygnus. This is the result.

Taken from Cherrymount, Waterford, Ireland. Using a modded Canon 350D connected to a William Optics Megrez 90, piggybacked on a Celestron 11 inch SCT on a CGE Mount. A stack of 120 x 60 Second Shots, imaged on the 25th May 2009.

Steve - was that taken *through* the 90mm apo or the 11" sct? Any filters?

It looks a bit weird on my screen - is this a lo-res version?

Hi Dave,

Twas taken throught the 90mm Scope, I also used an Astronomik EOS CCS CLS filter.

The JPEG is heavily compressed alright, however, I do reckon I may have overdone it on the contrast. I will give it another processing go, once I get some fresh eyes :-). It was a late one last night !! ::side:

I hear ya - many times when burning the midnight oil, I've rushed out an image in complete excitement, only to realise in the cold hard light of day that the processing was well overcooked...

I'd say fresh awakened eyes and patience will help you get the best out of the raw data. If you can host a full res version off site, even better - we'll be able to see it in all its glory!

Hi Dave,

True !!!!....... I just replaced the version you were looking at with a "less aggressive" processed version, from earlier.......

...... time to sleep now!!!:side:
