Hi
I noticed that Dave Gradwell was using an Asus netbook to record his AVIs on with his DMK camera at the Dunsink workshop last week. I recently acquired a Samsung N110 netbook for travelling and I thought I would give it a try and load up the IC capture software and try taking a video with my colour DFK camera.
A full colour avi at 30fps was no problem at all. No skipped frames.
The netbook is so handy for holding near the eyepiece in one hand while I focus and adjust with my free hand. The netbook has a battery life of about 8 hours under normal use. This will drop with the camera attached but I reckon it will last longer than a typical laptop battery. The screen is of good quality for focusing too.
Happy days -now all we need are some clear skies:(
